Antifreeze Valve 1" – Self-Acting Frost Protection (X0001)

A burst pipe is one of the most expensive failures in any heating installation, and it almost always happens on the exposed sections — outdoor plant, unheated garages, heat pump connections and pipework in a loft. This valve is the simplest and cheapest defence against it.

The operation is entirely mechanical. When the temperature of the water in the pipe drops to 3°C, the cartridge of the antifreeze valve opens and drains off the water. The cartridge closes again when the water temperature returns to 4°C. By discharging the water before it can turn to ice, the valve removes the expansion that splits pipework and cracks fittings.
