Every steel radiator and every metre of steel pipework in a heating system corrodes slowly, producing black iron oxide sludge — magnetite. It circulates, settles in radiators, wears pump bearings, and eventually blocks the narrow waterways of a modern boiler's heat exchanger. Replacing a heat exchanger costs several hundred euro. A magnetic filter costs a fraction of that.

The magnetic filter attracts the corroded metals to stop them building up. The filter allows water to continue flowing through the system as normal and can keep a system as cost-efficient as possible for longer. It is fitted on the return pipe, before the boiler, so debris is caught on its way in rather than after the damage is done.
